ARTICLE ADGlobal internet monitor working group NetBlocks reported that Twitter has been restricted in Russia amid conflict with Ukraine.
Global internet monitor working organization NetBlocks shared its metrics confirming the restriction of Twitter in Russia from early morning amid conflict with Ukraine. Multiple local providers (Rostelecom, MTS, Beeline and MegaFon) were blocking access to the popular platform to prevent the vision of videos and images of the attacks carried out by Russian army in Ukraine. The restrictions were put in place as the government clashes with social media platforms over policy in relation to the Ukraine conflict.
“NetBlocks metrics confirm the restriction of Twitter in Russia from the morning of Saturday 26 February 2022. The restrictions are in effect across multiple providers and come as Russian authorities and social media platforms clash over platform rules in relation to the conflict with Ukraine.” reported NetBlocks.
Many Russians took to the streets to express their dissent to this absurd invasion, many were arrested by the Russian authorities. The dissemination of images and videos could fuel unrest in Russia and give rise to numerous street demonstrations against the Putin regime.
