This blog is meant for those who want to pursue a career in cybersecurity and bug bounty hunting and don’t know where to start.

Let me start with Why I chose Cybersecurity as a Career?

Being a computer science student in high school with the basic knowledge of procedural and OOP language inclined me towards application development and their functioning. I always had a keen interest in android application development and that helped me develop an interest in mobile architecture and later it helped me a lot when I started android application pentesting. Till the end of my third year of engineering, I had no plans to pursue a career in any particular domain and like most of my friends I believed in campus placements.

At the end of the seventh semester, I paid a visit to my brother in Pune who was working in a cybersecurity firm. Back then, cybersecurity and hacking were very general terms to me which meant breaking into someone’s system and spying on them. He introduced me to all the concepts of cybersecurity and its career path and before I left Pune he loaded my hard disk with tutorials that he referred to at the start of his career. As soon as I reached home I started exploring all the tutorials. The vastness of the field and demand for learning new technology caught my interest and thus eventually I decided to pursue a career in cybersecurity.

What is the next step?

Once you start working in any cybersecurity firm it is important to expand your skillset according to the current demand of the companies.

After having sufficient knowledge of the web application pentesting you can start developing your skills in:

Mobile Application PentesingNetwork PentestingAPI PentestingThick Client Pentesting

This will increase the strength of your resume and will help you to get a more than average package after 1 or 2 years of experience.
