Today, I will show some hacking documentaries and movies that are quite old but powerful enough to shape your entire career. Some are available on Netflix, some by Google, and some for Bug Bounty Hunters.

If you read this article till the end, I’ll tell you about all those documentaries and movies that you must watch and for what reasons these can help you.

So, stay tuned for this short write-up. It’s a very entertaining and informative write-up, especially for cybersecurity lovers; don’t skip it! Let’s get started without any delay.

Now, the movies and documentaries I’m going to tell you about are all available online, except one, which requires you to subscribe to Netflix.

Documentary #1

The name of the documentary is “The Life of Hackers”. This documentary is good because it goes to great lengths to explain how one performs a penetration test in real life. This is a documentary showing how it works in real life. It follows somebody who does black ops work in a team; it tells them how the black ops team works.

He’s hacking, in the end, a company paying him $80,000 for a thorough report on a penetration test.

Documentary #2

Now for the second documentary, this is uploaded by Google, An entire cybersecurity playlist with episodic episodes for bug hunters, blue teamers, Project Zero, and more. One of the best things I have ever seen in movie or documentary format; highly recommended.

You can visit the Google YouTube channel and watch it.

Documentary #3

The third documentary is entitled “Cyber War-Dot Documentary.”

This one features a guy Banmakku, who meets different hackers and government officials for investigation in their respective ecosystems. It is a great watch, and it is 42 minutes long.

Documentary #4

Now, let’s talk about a movie that’s available on Netflix; it’s called “The Great Hack.” The film came out in 2019, and through a company called Cambridge Analytica, it looks at the dark side of social media. It is a really interesting movie, not educational, but it is something any hacker has to see.

Documentary #5

Another documentary is called “The Inside Life of a Hacker,” available in 2020.

This is about a hacker doing penetration testing, which means he is paid to do this by companies like Yahoo, Amazon, and CNN. It explains in the documentary how this guy catches the mafia guys and another real-life scenario.

Remember, because this is a documentary, it means this is based on true stories, unlike movies that are not.

Documentary #6

The first features DEFCON — which is just this huge hacking event, you might know. Compiled since 2012 are various interviews from DEFCON into a documentary that’s full of knowledge. My God, the amount of information in this is beyond words.

The documentary covers four key days of DEFCON — Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Friday night and it’s full of good information. You should watch it at some point in your free time.

Documentary #7

Another good documentary bears the name “Hackers Wanted,” an unreleased director’s cut from 2019. It’s about a hacker, Adrian Lamo, and what a controversial character that guy was.

It goes over some of the adventures and controversies that hackers can expect on and through their careers, and the information might prove greatly useful for you.

Documentary #8

Last but not least, “21st Century Hackers.” It’s a full documentary based on the life of a white-hat hacker and how he works with the government. It is a brilliant movie where one can see how most of the hacks take place in real life and how these kinds of hackers work.
