One of the biggest hassles of watching TV in a hotel is logging in to all your streaming services to find your favorite shows. That might soon be a thing of the past.

Several years ago, LG unveiled the first hotel TV that lets you connect your Apple devices via AirPlay. This week, it's announcing support for Google Cast too, creating the first hotel TV with both Apple and Android casting compatibility.

Many hotel TVs with AirPlay had support for Google Cast through attached HDMI dongles, but this will be the first with both built-in.

With Google Cast and AirPlay, you can stream pictures, music, videos, and more from your phone, tablet, or laptop. Many streaming services are also supported.

Where you can find them

LG didn't say which hotels the technology is coming to, but it does have a list of locations with Apple AirPlay.

Around 60 InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) hotels and resorts are Apple compatible, including selected Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites, Staybridge Suites, and avid Hotel locations. Given that LG's press release mentions dual support for Android and Apple, it seems that Google Cast is coming to at least these locations, if not more.

How to connect to Google Cast

LG says support for Google Cast started Jan. 10, meaning you should be able to use it now in available hotels. Google Cast should work on any TV running webOS 23 or later, including a few 2022 models and everything from 2023 on.

To connect to Google Cast, you'll simply scan a QR code on the TV. Every QR code is unique, meaning it connects to only the TV in your room. Once you connect your device, you'll be able to cast your streaming apps to the TV, saving you the hassle of logging into every service you want to use and the potential ickiness of using a hotel remote.

LG says the connection will remain active throughout the length of your stay and will automatically disconnect and erase the history when you check out.
