Sometimes, the simplest bugs can lead to the sweetest rewards. This is the story of how I earned my second bounty from the same company, and let me tell you, it was as surprising as it was hilarious!

One lazy afternoon, while sipping my coffee and casually exploring the company’s application, I stumbled upon a bug. And by “stumbled,” I mean it practically jumped out at me. Within just five minutes, I realized I could grab all IP addresses, locations, and machine details of any user. To make things spicier, I could also redirect users to malicious links via their emails. The possibilities were endless, but of course, I used my powers responsibly (bug hunter ethics, you know!).

By the way, when I saw how easy it was, I literally asked myself, “Did they leave this here as a trap? Am I on some hidden camera show?”

Reporting this bug was quick and straightforward. But here’s where it gets funny — even though it took me only 10 minutes to write and submit the report, I “creatively” mentioned that I had spent 4 hours working on it. Why? Well, maybe it was to make my efforts seem more impressive or to justify the payout. Either way, the company bought it, and I’m not complaining! 😂

Oh, and when I submitted it, I added a dramatic note: “This bug could change the internet forever!” Just for fun, of course.

A few days later, I received an email from the company. They confirmed the bug and marked it as valid. ¥15,000 was credited to my account, and I couldn’t believe it. My first international earning — from Japan, no less! It felt surreal. Suddenly, I had this newfound admiration for Japanese people. They’re so polite, professional, and…generous!

It hit me then — this bug hunting thing might actually pay better than my future day job. Maybe I should just stick to this?

This wasn’t my first bounty by any means — I’ve found plenty of bugs before — but it was my second successful report for this company. That made it even more special. This bug taught me a lot, not just technically but also personally. It’s a reminder that sometimes the simplest findings can have the biggest impact. Plus, the company’s kindness and promptness made the experience even better.

And now, whenever I find a bug, I wonder if it’s my ticket to another Japanese bounty. Maybe I should learn some Japanese to say “Thank you” next time?

Earning my second bounty from the same company felt amazing, especially knowing my skills were being recognized internationally. It’s not every day that you can say, “I found a bug in 5 minutes and earned more than I’d make in a month!” Here’s to more discoveries, more laughs, and, hopefully, more sweet payouts!

Stay curious, keep hunting, and never underestimate the power of simple bugs! Cheers to bug hunting adventures.
