Has it been a while since the last season of your favorite show and you forgot what happened? Did you get distracted scrolling while watching a new show and miss an important part? A new feature from Prime Video can help you catch up – while avoiding spoilers.

Called X-Ray Recaps, the feature will be exclusive to Fire TV devices at first but roll out gradually to other devices. As Amazon explains, the new feature uses AI to write a summary of an episode of a show, an entire season, or a small part of an episode – down to the minute you're currently watching. When you click on the feature, you'll see a small text snippet describing plot points, details, and cliffhangers you missed.

The feature analyzes video segments combined with subtitles and dialogue to create detailed descriptions of events and conversations. Guardrails are applied, Amazon said, to make sure the writeups are concise and don't reveal anything that's coming up.

Recaps builds on the existing Prime Video X-Ray feature which can show you which other shows an on-screen actor has been in; identify a song that's playing; see trivia, easter eggs, and bonus content; share moments on social media, and even enable you to shop while you watch.

You can launch X-Ray Recaps at any time, Amazon said, by opening the X-Ray experience. When you select it, you'll be able to choose the type of recap you want – a summary of the current episodes, the current season, or the previous season.

The feature is available today for Fire TV users with support for additional devices coming by the end of the year. You can use X-Ray Recaps on all Amazon MGM Studios Original series like Daisy Jones and the Six, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys.
