Segway Navimow X3 Series robot mower

The robot mower market is growing almost as fast as your lawn in the spring -- and a new player just entered. Segway has launched a new Navimow X3 Series of robot mowers designed for residential and commercial applications.

This new X3 Series can cover up to 2.5 acres, with four variants ranging from 0.4 to 2.5 acres. The robots are built for efficiency, capable of covering up to 1.25 acres in 24 hours. They support ultra-fast charging and can cover up to 0.3 acres on one charge.

"The X3 Series isn't just about efficiency -- it's about transforming how Americans maintain their lawns," said George Ren, CEO of Segway Navimow. "We've packed it with pro-grade technology so users can reduce labor input and enhance lawn care experience whether it's for their own yard or their business."

The Navimow X3 Series has a six-blade anti-clogging disc, which helps maintain optimal performance across large areas, according to Segway.

These robot mowers use navigation and obstacle-avoidance technologies to mow within a perimeter without requiring boundary wires. Segway uses a dual-antenna RTK algorithm to eliminate dead-signal spots in complex terrain, even under tree canopies.

The system uses vSLAM and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO) for centimeter-level accuracy, three wide-angle cameras, and a time-of-flight (ToF) sensor. This gives the robot mower a 300-degree field of view, and complex visual recognition algorithms ensure it can identify more than 200 objects. Essentially, this robot should know when to start or stop, go under or around an obstacle, and be prepared if a child or pet suddenly walks in its path.

The Navimow X3 Series is now available in the US, with prices starting at $2,299. Below is the full X3 Series with pricing information:

X315: $2,299 (0.4 acres) X330: $2,799 (0.75 acres) X350: $3,499 (1.5 acres) X390: $4,999 (2.5 acres)

The X3 Series isn't Segway's first robot mower. The new lineup joins the existing Navimow I and H Series. I'll be testing the Navimow X3 Series over the next few weeks and will update this article with my thoughts when I do.
