Passwd is a file where information related to the user is stored such as name, user id, group id,gecos field, home directory, and command shell it is in human-readable format

group is the file in a human-readable file where information related to which user account belongs to which group is stored

shadow is a file where encrypted passwords of the user account are stored

Formate of passwd is unique to another file

Username: Is the name of the account

Password: If there is x in this field that means there is a password stored in the shadow file and if the password is no password in place of x there will be * in his place

User id (UID): Unix-like operating systems identify a user by a value called a user identifier. and it is in a number

0 UID belongs to the Root account which has full control over the system

1–99: these UID are predefined accounts

100–999: for a system for administrators to propose

1000: they are non-related to admin and system and if you created a new user this has a UID of 1001

Group Id (GID): Mean which account is related to which group of system

0 : root

1–100: are used for the system propose

1000 : usually signifies the users. New groups are generally allotted GIDs beginning from 1000

Gecos Field: In this above image there is one thing is which is not mentioned which is the Gecos field which is not import not come handed time this field includes which have information related to the user like their name, location, number, etc like their personal information

Home Directory: It has a path that leads to the user folder

Login Shell: It denotes the full path of the default shell that executes the command (by the user) and displays the results.
